Particular emphasis is placed on the financial, planning and management aspects of the project life cycle.
The course covers the project management process, from inception and feasibility, engineering, procurement and implementation through to commissioning and operation. The degree emphasizes construction management principles, computing applications in construction and the fundamentals of construction engineering. The course aims to help candidates become more effective by enhancing and developing the skills that managers require in the construction industry. The focus is on the main principles and techniques of planning, control, execution and engineering of construction projects. Concept All construction projects begin with planning and design, also referred to as architectural programming. The master’s program in Engineering Project Management at the Department of Civil Engineering here at Rutgers University is targeted at individuals who require a more in depth knowledge of the business delivery of projects in an engineering environment, perhaps in the construction, oil and gas, petrochemical or process industries.
